Superocean Héritage Chrono

February 29, 2008

Having mastered the air, Breitling set out in the late 1950’s to conquer the seas with its Superocean diver’s watch. A tribute to time, the Superocean Heritage has taken on both the spirit and design of the original in this new chronograph version. The original B in gold above the Breitling signature is an invitation to travel as are the highly characteristic luminescent triangular hour hand and the original sumptuous bracelet in plaited steel. A timepiece to win over both those who are nostalgic and those who are fascinated by the ocean’s depths.

URWERK 201 Blackshark

February 25, 2008

Here is an URWERK 201 Blackshark that would be hard to mistake for any other watch brand.  Just like the 103 the 201 will have a Platinum PVD’ed version. This “thing” sends shivers down my spine. At this point I don’t know if I am just biased or what ever the guys at URWERK come out with I just think is awesome. I wish there is a more “affordable” URWERK in the future.

The Double Rotor, a veritable Perrelet icon, has been spectacularly re-interpreted with a futuristic design, high-tech materials and innovative technology. Even though the titanium case gives this timepiece a resolutely contemporary character, it has remained faithful to the watch brand’s aesthetic identity, proving that it is possible to combine tradition with the future, and luxury with state-of-the-art technology.

ANDERSEN GENEVE – Eros 69

February 22, 2008

When they created a new reversible version of the famous wristwatch with the most animated automaton in the world, Svend Andersen and his team of artists and craftsmen turned to representations of 17th and 18th century erotic Chinese art, mainly painted on silk. The ?69? comprises a case with a reversible century, with the dial on one side and the automaton on the other. All the automaton’s components are meticulously blanked, painted and assembled by hand, making each watch a truly unique object.

HD3 Three Minds Black Titanium

February 21, 2008

Things are looking up for “alternative” ways to read time. I see more and more imagination used in the design of such displays. To be honest this system is nothing new since this is a derivative of jumping hours and digital minutes APs and Pateks from the 20’s. Less aggressive, of course, but the very same concept nonetheless. The mecanism is a jumping hour (I sincerely hope so) since otherwise it would be unreadable and minutes plus seconds wheel. The “Three Minds” is a great piece of kit for the lovers of Oversize watches. A bit agressive but good enough to be recommended to anybody with a more “modern” taste in fashion. My guess is that it will be around the 50k mark. It sounds a bit excessive yet there will be only 33 pieces made in the different combos (Black Titanium, Rose Gold and Titanium/Rose Gold) which makes it more costly. dsc00237.jpg

Project Z4 by HARRY WINSTON

February 21, 2008

The Project Z4 is the fourth model in the Harry Winston Project Zalium series. The Z4 is limited to 300 pieces worldwide and is made of the exotic metal alloy Zalium. Ronald Winston, son of Harry Winston, created Zalium from zirconium alloy and allium lily. The metal is stronger than titanium and almost as light. As you can see Zalium has a nice lustre with a grey hue to it. They used a combination of carbon black, white and anthracite grey on the dial to make it very easy to read both time zones. By pressing the repeater trigger on the upper left side of the case, you can click between the two time zones. There is also a daytime or nighttime graphic for each timezone. Overall I am quite impressed with the dressed down style of this watch as well as the functionality of dual time zones. This is the type of watch that works just as well with jeans as it does a suit, so it is perfect for a traveler who only wants to carry one watch.

Unique Electronics – Chanel Choco Phone

February 21, 2008

All within the last few years, the trend of collaborating fashion labels and mobile phones has hit a pinnacle as brands from both the high end and mainstream strive to mark their electronic mark. The Chanel Choco phone designed by Fred de GARILHE is a cutting edge take on the mobile phone. At first glance in its unactivated state, it resembles a chocolate bar. However, once it’s put to use, the fiber optics come to life and the phone lights up. Without a doubt one of the most interesting concepts to be devised in recent memory, however one must wonder how the functionality will come into play without a major mobile phone company designing the hardware. Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Minute Repeater Antoine LeCoultre Q164T450

February 6, 2008

Brand Information: Jaeger-LeCoultre
Since 1833, when the inventive Charles Antoine LeCoultre established this venerable watchmaker, it has produced some of the most outstanding and innovative timepieces. It wasn’t until 1931, however, that the Jaeger-LeCoultre brand rose to international fame. It was then that the Reverso – an ingenious reversible watch – was unveiled to the public.

Two years in development, this is a stunning addition to the Jaeger lineup. It is the first minute-repeater that is water resistant to 50 meters. It displays its functions on the front dial which offer a view into this miniaturized wonder of mechanical engineering. The watch chimes – which are sublime to hear and which were designed in collaboration with the Orchestra Leader Georges Prêtre – produce a very sonorous 55 decibels (at two feet away). An incredible 15-day power reserve. Limited to a very exclusive 200 individually numbered pieces.

Test Drive The Royal Oak Offshore Alinghi Team Chronograph

February 1, 2008

This is one serious watch made by AP. Gorgeous light weight, carbon case and bezel with black dial. This timepiece is a limited series of only 1,300 pieces in the entire world which
makes it that special. Below you will find some specs on the time.
m_03841.jpg This timepiece has a case diameter of 43mm, one millimeter larger than its 1976 predecessor. This slight increase is due to the rounder contours of the lateral hinge ridges. The new three-part case has a screwed back with a sapphire-crystal case back and a screw-down crown. It is water resistant to a depth of 120 meters. The movement is the self-winding Patek Philippe calibre 315 SC, powered by an extra-heavy 21K gold central rotor. The dial displays the hours, minutes, sweep seconds, and the date in an aperture at 3 o’clock.
