True North by Arnold and Son “The Real Deal”

March 6, 2008

The True North Perpetual is one of the most amazing mens watches from Arnold and Son that shows their commitment to superb craftsmanship. This is a mechanical manual-winding movement that has 7 day power reserve.

It still has Cotes de Geneve designs within its movement. The movement runs on a single barrel spring that determines the high precision of this watch. Its highest precision can be experienced within the first 4 days of elapse.

The company produces only limited edition of this watch where only 25 pieces are made with platinum, or white gold, and palladium alloy. The case is 45mm in diameter with a transparent caseback made of sapphire crystal.

arnold_truenorth.jpgWithin its white dial there are many indicators and counters. Its moon phase located at 9 is calculated base on 29.5 days with a true visible face of the moon.

There is also the perpetual calendar where the date counter is presented at 4, and the month and leap year is indicated at 1.

True North Perpetual can provide double equation of time where it is able to show the time difference between true solar time and mean solar time. This indication is placed at 7 where it is presented in minutes.

It needs to incorporate the true solar time dial mechanism to allow speed in its calculation. It is the first watch to indicate the true solar time at a particular place and also present the true geographical North at noon solar time.

The 24 hour hand with a solar shape can assist in indicating the second time zone or local time zone simply by adjusting the true Solar Time against the outer dial ring after correcting the difference in location. The hand is adjusted with the pusher at 10.

To allow for changing time zones, it would just need to adjust the outer dial ring by the difference between the longitude of the current location and the longitude of the time zone center.

This outer dial ring can be easily adjusted with the crown at 8. It also helps to include daylight saving correction into the watch with this mechanism.

Ultimate Luxury Watercraft - YachtPlus just so gorgeous!

March 5, 2008

YachtPlus is about 21st Century yachting for the new financially astute owner.
Our Owners are financially independent, many still active senior executives and others who having worked hard throughout their business careers, are starting to slow down.

mo65luxuryyacht_un2008_lg.jpg The majority are successful entrepreneurs, private investors and those from the world of stage and screen, all of whom go about their lifestyle choices in a smart way.

mo65luxuryyacht_un2008_lgg2.jpg They may have owned a yacht before and, through YachtPlus, can now secure access to a larger yacht for the cost of keeping a smaller boat. Or they are aspiring owners who want to add a yacht to their portfolio of lifestyle assets but are intimidated by the hassles and the costs of sole ownership. Some of our Owners may have chartered yachts in the past and feel that charter has too many shortcomings, as it is generally expensive and service levels are unpredictable.

All of them turn to YachtPlus as a solution for their yachting needs.

Geneva 2008: Lamborghini Gallardo LP560-4

March 5, 2008

With the new Gallardo LP560-4, Lamborghini once again sets a higher standard for super sports cars. With its new engine, permanent four-wheel drive transmission and new suspension, it delivers clearly improved performance and dynamics. In parallel, its innovative design takes the classic lines unique to the Lamborghini brand one step further. Powerful elegance has never been so defined before.
live_lambo_g_450-2008.jpg
The Gallardo LP560-4 is the successor of the most successful Lamborghini model of all time. Approximately 7100 Gallardo models have left the Sant’Agata Bolognese production plant since its launch in 2003. “The LP560-4 will consolidate this success story,” states Stephan Winkelmann, President and CEO of Automobili Lamborghini. “It will outclass its predecessor in every aspect; its dynamics are distinctly breathtaking and its design sets new standards. With the introduction of the Gallardo LP560-4, we will consistently continue Lamborghini’s growth strategy”.

The powerful heart of the Gallardo LP560-4 is the new 5.2 litre V10 engine with an output of 560 PS (412 kW) at 8000 rpm. The increase of 40 PS compared with that of the previous Gallardo, and the approximate 20 kilogram reduction in weight, improves the power weight ratio to 2.5 kilograms per PS (hp) and thus enhances performance. The LP560-4 accelerates from 0-100 km/h in 3.7 seconds, its speed at 11.8 seconds is 200 km/h and its top speed lies at 325 km/h. At the same time the new, highly efficient engine enthrals its driver with its direct fuel injection system - “Iniezione Diretta Stratificata”. Despite its clearly increased power, fuel consumption and CO 2 emissions have been reduced by a staggering 18 percent.

live_lambo_g_2008inside.jpg The engineers in the Sant’Agata-based Technical Department have also improved traction, handling and stability at high speeds. The redesigned four-wheel drive transmission, the new suspension and the optimised aerodynamics as well as the reduced weight and decreased friction between the components, all contribute to the overall improvements in the vehicle. Thus the Gallardo LP560-4 presents itself as a cutting edge super sports car also suitable for the race-track. The car is also surprisingly suited to long-distance driving and despite its extreme performance capabilities is easy to control whilst maintaining utmost stability.

March 5, 2008

franc_vila_tourbillion.jpg At the crossroads of contemporary art, architecture and engineering, Franc Vila’s Esprit Unique makes another very strong statement. This timepiece, with its differential gears system, houses a flying tourbillon made of lightnium, a new alloy of lithium and aluminium, and is offered in a limited edition of 8. The structured design of this mechanism has its roots in modern architecture and, as lightnium is an extremely light material, the mechanism has been pierced.
