Wavepiercer: Gorgeous 50 meters yacht
January 9, 2010

After the success of Wavepiercer “Spirit”, New Zealand Yachts came with a new beautiful 50-meter yacht .
Built with advanced 3D modeling technique, great fuel efficiency, space and stability, the S50 has a 22 knot cruise speed, topping out at an estimated 26 knots. Like all wavepiercing vessels directional stability at speed is excellent, deceleration forces from wave impact is minimal, vibration and sound are well insulated, wake signatures are low and stability at rest is amazing.

Sabdes concept luxury megayacht in car red livery
December 11, 2009

For the luxury yacht owners, the world is one big playground and they have the toys to prove it. I have earlier introduced you to some high-tech luxury travel yachts. The pictured above is the latest concept from Sabdes, a 230-foot megayacht that has been given the sports car red treatment. Offering a perfect balance of delight, leisure, and exploration activities, the concept megayacht delivers speeds of 25+ knots and offers accommodation for 12 guests on its five decks. Other than that, the luxury yacht offers room for a mini-submarine, a helicopter landing pad, lap and spa pools, scuba diving facilities, a ‘float-in-dock’ for the guest tender, an observation deck and sea-level gymnasium. The yacht has been designed in an unique way to endow with a great flexibility with large open-plan areas that are multi-divisible into smaller formal spaces. The all-embracing owner’s suite of rooms has been festooned with its own deck comprising a master stateroom, en-suites, dressing rooms, office and library. Why don’t they call me for a test ride?
PK Boo II
October 11, 2009

PK Boo II was built by the Tréhard Constructions Navale Shipyard in France in 1982 and has just completed a major refit in 2007/2008 at Hamble Yacht Services.
Amongst the new features on PK Boo II you will find the addition of a new guest Twin cabin to ensure more comfort for the charterers.

The layout is now as follow: a double and a twin cabin, sharing a central bathroom with marble top, this arrangement is mirrored to starboard. All the way forward is the full beam master cabin with its ensuite bathroom also with marble top.

Beautifully proportioned, the stunning cabins made of newly varnished Sapele and Mahogany reinforce the elegance of the guests’ area which is now entirely separated from the Crew and service area.
The saloon is amidships, with direct access from the central cockpit. To port it has a comfortable sofa whose upholstery has been renewed with leather and to starboard a large dining area with a folding table.
Add to that a state of the art entertainment system including a new Sony 32” flat screen T.V with a new Alpine media centre. Plus some additional speakers for use on deck and you will find the great combination of traditional and modernity onboard!

The new sails and fully serviced rigging should provide amazing sailing experience for those who appreciate performances!
The cockpit area under the Bimini is perfect for a sociable cocktail hour, quiet breakfast, as well as dinner for 10. Whether you are relaxing on her forward sunbathing area or taking full advantage of her water toys, her professional and experienced crew will ensure that your holiday will be one to remember!
Amanresorts Goes Dragon Spotting Onboard The New Amanikan
August 13, 2009
![]()
Amanresorts is going dragon spotting this summer as it launches the 2009 Komodo Expedition, a seven-night adventures into Indonesia’s World Heritage Site, the Komodo National Park where these fearsome creatures roam in their natural habitats.
![]()
And to take you there, you will board the spanking new Amanikan, a custom-built 32m cruiser modeled after traditional Indonesian Phinisi spice trading vessels, which dates back as early as prior to the 1500’s.
![]()
The vessel houses three cabins above-deck, all air-conditioned and luxuriously decked in Aman fashion, and with wraparound windows that offer sweeping vistas of the Flores Sea. The teak and rattan furnishings complement antique brass fixtures and crisp white upholstery, transporting you back in time to the seafaring days of the spice trade.
Of course, you’re here on a mission – to suss out the Komodo dragons, so keep your eyes peeled to your binoculars for them, and other exotic wildlife like macaque monkeys and banteng as the cruiser weaves through the necklace of islands that collectively forms the Nusa Tenggara. You’ll be glad to know that after all the gruelling jungle trails and island hopping, it’s back to new world comforts inside the lavish tents of Amanwana.

July 23, 2009
![]()
Taking the luxurious chic of your New York City loft with you on the water is now possible. The MetroShip is a houseboat unlike any other, styled as an open loft space filled with modern design accents and amenities to recreate the feel of city living, with the sound of waves lapping gently outside.
![]()
The result of several years of planning and construction, the MetroShip was conceptualized by David Ballinger, who sought to create a contemporary boating masterpiece that would completely transform the image of a traditional houseboat.
![]()
Clean lines and open spaces run throughout the vessel, whose thermal aluminum walls conceal luxurious living spaces filled with eco-friendly furniture and equipped with the latest in entertainment technology.
![]()
There’s a high-end Cyrus Audio British stereo system, Jamo Danish in-wall speakers, a projector screen in its own movie theater, and a Nintendo Wii to keep the young ones happy. Each MetroShip is built to order in Atlanta, with prices beginning at USD239,000 for the basic vessel.
Golden Girl, Mega Ship

I am walking down the quay at the megayacht marina in Genoa, Italy. I see a big, white trideck. And a big, white trideck. And a big, white trideck.
And a big… gold… performance cruiser?
A 150-footer, to be exact, painted “champagne” with black accents–even the liferaft canisters and radar domes. She’s a sexy beast that seems shockingly vibrant docked alongside the traditional motoryachts and makes me stop and stammer the way I might upon encountering a Lamborghini in a parking lot full of Cadillacs. Feadship Kathleen Anne SL39 Yacht
April 6, 2009
Unveiled at Koninklijke De Vries Scheepsbouw in Aalsmeer, the Netherlands in late October, the Kathleen Anne marks Feadship’s second iteration in its line of highly customizable SL39 modular concept superyachts.
Adopting a notably more modern and sleek exterior in comparison to the first SL39 (at the behest of its owner), the Kathleen Anne still continues its lineage’s function as a full displacement world cruiser with a steel hull and aluminium superstructure.
It is designed by Guido de Groot and Bannenberg Design, and features a top speed of 14 knots, a central high-end AV system, a fully equipped stateroom for its owners, four double staterooms for guests, and three double cabins for the crew.
The individuality of the Kathleen Anne in comparison to its predecessor proves the SL39 lineup’s flair not only for solid and luxurious cruisers, but also for complete aesthetic and interior customizability – a trait that Feadship can demonstrate once more when the third variation is introduced by end 2009.

The Epic 23E – Wakeboarding
March 30, 2009
In the wake of increasing calls for greener cars and hybrids, Chris Anthony, who co-founded Aptera Motors which produces the Aptera 2e electric car, has responded with another eco-friendly machine.
But this time, he has turned his attention to his first love: speedboats designed for wakeboarding. Anthony, who is also the CEO of EPIC Wakeboats, has built what the company says is the world’s first electric hybrid sport boat dubbed the Epic 23E.
Powering this 22-ft cruiser is a Flux Propulsion EVO 8.1 Marine Drive System, which is capable of producing 375hp and allows you to wakeboard for one hour without burning a single drop of fuel.
When the lithium-ion batteries near depletion, a small gasoline engine drives a generator to recharge the batteries. This means that in a typical 4-hour wakeboarding session, the Epic 23E burns 50 percent less fuel compared to its gasoline equivalent, cutting CO2 emissions by more than half.
Alternatively, the batteries can also be recharged by plugging into a standard 110V/220V wall outlet. The EPIC 23E is priced at $150,000, and will hit the waters come July.

Pershing 115 Yacht Heads to Rio
March 16, 2009
The latest evolution of the 35-meter maxiyacht from luxury yachtbuilder Pershing’s shipyard has been completed and is on its way to her new owner in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Technically, this yacht boasts an innovation from the jet industry: central hydro-jet thrust via a gas turbine to boost the twin MTU diesel engines. A yacht of this class from Pershing normally tops out at 40 knots but this one will do 52 knots.
Structural improvements allow the yacht to achieve this speed without vibration, according to Pershing. Aside from impressive performance, the yacht also delivers sublime luxury trappings in its four cabins, living spaces, recreation areas and fixtures, all of which feature significant updates.

Pilot Your Own Sub with the Triton 1000
January 5, 2009
When the Poseidon Undersea Resort opens its doors in 2009, one of the activities guests can enjoy is piloting one of the four Triton 1000 submarines and exploring the spectacular marine environment in the 5,000-acre Fijian lagoon.

But why wait till next year when you can hop into one of these subs now? For US$1.69 million, U.S. Submarines have designed and built the Triton 1000 subs, which seats two or three, specifically with owners of mid-size to megayachts in mind. In fact, the first Triton 1000 has been delivered to the 164-foot yacht Mine Games in December 2007.
Standing at 1.85 meters, and measuring 3.2m by 2.65m, the Triton weighs a mere three tons. The sub’s catamaran configuration provides excellent surface stability and also meets the American Bureau of Shipping’s (ABS) freeboard requirement of 0.77m between the water surface and the hatch of the submersible.
This means that passengers and pilot can enter or exit the Triton 1000 safely and comfortably while it is surfaced. That said, the Triton can be easily deployed from the yacht with the existing davit systems.
Inside, the plush leather seats and full air conditioning makes for a deep sea adventure in luxury and comfort. The touch screen monitors and intuitive joystick controls make piloting this sub a breeze. For the benefit of new owners, however, U.S. Submarines will provide free lessons on piloting and submarine maintenance.

Porsche Design Group To Design Yachts For Royal Falcon Fleet
December 8, 2008
Porsche Design Group on Wednesday announced that it has inked a deal with Singapore-based yacht builder, Royal Falcon Fleet to design and market luxury catamarans and mega-yachts exclusively for Royal Falcon Fleet. The first of these projects is a motor catamaran dubbed the RFF135, and measures over 40 meters (135ft), as shown in the sketch above, and will be sold under the Royal Falcon Fleet brand. Porsche Design will design both the hull exterior and interior of the catamaran.
The Group has engaged the services of Swedish marine engineering company Kockums (a subsidiary of technological powerhouse Thyssen Krupp, and Australian naval architect Incat Crowther.

The F470 – Ferretti’s Sporty Entry-Level Yacht
November 23, 2008
Italian yacht connoisseur Ferretti is adding a new entry-level option to its desirable armada in the form of the Ferretti 470, an ambitious, sporty model designed to replace the 2004 Ferretti 460, and by extension break much new ground in its class.
Made by Ferretti in collaboration with Advanced Yacht Technology (AYT) and the Studio Zuccon International Project, the compact Ferretti 470’s class leading features include an innovative layout concept first seen in the Ferretti 510, a spacious sun lounge, and an adjustable door that makes it possible to combine the cockpit, galley and living areas.
There are three cabins including a forward master cabin with a large bathroom, and an increased window area that allows for an uninhibited view and plenty of natural light.
Further cutting edge technology comes optional, including the Anti Rolling Gyro system that reduces wave-induced movement by over 50 percent, and the Gi8 system that through SMS enables perpetual monitoring of emergencies and yacht management.
The Ferretti 470 was displayed at the recent Genoa International Boat Show in early October, alongside a host of the company’s other new boats. Other models unveiled at the show included the Ferretti 631 and the Apreamare 44’.
Ferretti Launches First Hybrid Yacht
November 15, 2008
While hybrid cars are no longer a novelty thanks to an increasing number of automakers hopping on the eco-bandwagon with their own versions, the idea of hybrids has not had the same success or impact in the nautical arena.
Mochi Craft, a brand under famous luxury yacht maker Ferretti Group, aims to change this when it unveiled what the company claims as the world’s first hybrid yacht at the 48th Salone Nautico Internazaionale (otherwise known as the Genoa Boat Show), which kicked off over the weekend.
The hybrid yacht, called the Long Range 23, is a 75-foot three deck motor yacht which features a hybrid propulsion system developed by Ferretti’s Advanced Yacht Technology (AYT) division.
![]()
This system allows the owner to regulate the yacht’s emissions depending on the sailing requirements through a diesel-electric engine combination. This, in effect, makes zero emissions possible when the boat is running on battery power, and has already earned her a RINA Green Star certification.

In addition, Ferretti’s engineers from AYT has built a high-tech hull for the Long Range 23 that improves hydrodynamic efficiency, reduces roll, and improves static stability, which means the boat will stay moored even in locations subject to tides.

YachtPlus is about 21st Century yachting for the new financially astute owner.
Our Owners are financially independent, many still active senior executives and others who having worked hard throughout their business careers, are starting to slow down.
The majority are successful entrepreneurs, private investors and those from the world of stage and screen, all of whom go about their lifestyle choices in a smart way.
They may have owned a yacht before and, through YachtPlus, can now secure access to a larger yacht for the cost of keeping a smaller boat. Or they are aspiring owners who want to add a yacht to their portfolio of lifestyle assets but are intimidated by the hassles and the costs of sole ownership. Some of our Owners may have chartered yachts in the past and feel that charter has too many shortcomings, as it is generally expensive and service levels are unpredictable.
All of them turn to YachtPlus as a solution for their yachting needs.
